Best Psychiatrist in Cumilla - Book Appointment
I Checked the Lock. Then I Walked Back to Check It Again.
I am fifty-two, and I keep a small shop in Cumilla. Every night I close the shop, pull the shutter down, and lock it. Then, halfway home, a doubt starts working in my head. Did the lock click properly? Did I pull the shutter all the way down? Most nights I turn back and check. Some nights I check twice.
It does not stop at the shop. If I count the day's money and make a small mistake, my mind stays on it for days. A wrong change given to a customer. A bill I may have entered wrongly. These small things replay while I eat, while I try to sleep. My son has started closing the shop himself some evenings, and even then I ring him to ask about the lock.
A mistake at the shop last month cost me some money, and my son said I should talk to someone before this eats me up. Our family doctor agreed, and named a psychiatrist, a doctor who treats troubles of the mind. I began looking on DoctorBD24. The first page I landed on was the Cumilla listing for general surgeons, which was not my kind of doctor. Still, it showed me the site keeps every kind of doctor in a separate list, and I kept looking from there.

I Checked the Lock. Then I Walked Back to Check It Again.
He did not laugh
I was half ashamed telling it. A grown man, running a shop for twenty-five years, walking back at night to pull at a lock. The psychiatrist listened without a smile. He asked me to describe one such night fully.
A mind that will not let go
He said some minds hold on to a worry the way a hand keeps holding a hot cup. The worry itself is ordinary. Everyone checks a lock. The trouble is that my mind does not accept the answer my eyes give it, so it sends me back.
What the coming weeks hold
He suggested we meet for regular talking sittings. Change would be slow, he said, and we would review it visit by visit. If anything physical needed checking, another doctor would look at that side first.
One rule with the medicine
At the second sitting he wrote a medicine for me. I take it exactly as written, even in a calmer week. Leaving it off suddenly is the one thing I must not do. If it does not suit me, I tell him, and he decides.
Family joins by my word
He asked if my son should sit in one day. My son sees the nightly checking up close. He said nothing from my sittings reaches my family unless I agree.
Another list on the site
Looking around DoctorBD24 that first evening, I saw the site also keeps a listing of psychiatrists in Dhaka alongside the other lists. Every kind of doctor sits in their own place there.
Is checking a lock really worth a doctor's time?
That was my own first question to him. He said a habit that costs a man his sleep and his peace is worth a doctor's hearing.
Why did he ask about my body and my old illnesses?
The body and the mind are not separate, he said. Some troubles of the mind have a root in the body. If his questions point that way, he sends me to the right doctor.
Will the checking stop completely?
He made no such promise. We are aiming at a mind that can accept the first answer, he said. Some checking may always remain, and that is ordinary.
What if my son wants to know what we discuss?
Then he hears only what I agree to share. My sittings are mine, and the doctor told me that clearly at the start.
How often will I have to go back?
My next visit is set a few weeks ahead. After that the gaps depend on how the nights are going.
What should I do if a night ever turns truly bad?
If thoughts of harming myself ever come and feel hard to push away, I tell someone in the house at once. I reach a hospital that same day. The same holds if I go night after night with no sleep while my mind will not slow down. It also holds if I suddenly cannot manage washing and eating, or if the restlessness grows beyond what I can hold.
