TMSS Medical College & Rafatullah Community Hospital

TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital (TMC & RCH) is a key institution within the TMSS Health Sector. Established in 1995 by Professor Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum, the founding Executive Director of TMSS, Rafatullah Community Hospital (RCH) was created with the financial assistance of Terre des Hommes-Netherlands. The hospital was founded with the vision of providing affordable healthcare services to the poor and rural populations of Northern Bangladesh.

Initially starting as a 10-bed hospital in 1995, the hospital grew rapidly to meet the increasing healthcare needs of the community. In 2008, in line with the operational policies of the Medical College, the hospital was upgraded to a 250-bed facility and renamed TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital (TMC & RCH) to also serve as a hub for clinical education.

Today, the hospital has expanded to 850 beds and is equipped with modern medical instruments and facilities, providing round-the-clock services, including emergency care for both indoor and outdoor patients. The hospital continues to grow and, in its final phase, will offer 1000 beds in a 19-story building, with the goal of providing comprehensive medical and surgical services to the community.

With its ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access and quality in Northern Bangladesh, TMC & RCH continues to play a critical role in delivering essential health services to underserved populations.
