Southern Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) was established in 2005 with the mission to produce a generation of highly skilled medical graduates dedicated to providing compassionate and cost-effective care to those in need. Our goal is to offer the highest quality treatment to every patient, ensuring their satisfaction. The institution’s primary objective is to uphold high standards in medical education, train medical personnel, and conduct research across various medical disciplines. Our vision extends beyond producing doctors—we aim to shape compassionate, responsible human beings.

The need for more medical colleges in Bangladesh is pressing, and to provide a dynamic learning environment, we have partnered with international medical institutions for real-time lessons through teleconferencing and video conferencing. Our faculty members are not just educators, but mentors guiding our students every step of the way. In addition to training medical professionals, our institution offers training for paramedical staff, as we are committed to improving the quality of healthcare and preparing individuals to meet the health needs of others.

Our decision to focus on healthcare stems from the shortage of physicians in Bangladesh and the inability of many people to afford quality treatment. With many suffering from various illnesses, we could not remain indifferent to their plight. This led to the establishment of our medical college, equipped with modern facilities and a charitable approach to treatment, ensuring that even the underprivileged have access to the best possible care without discrimination.

Our hospital is functioning well, and we are in the process of developing specialized departments, starting with Nephrology. We have already initiated the setup of a kidney dialysis facility, which is currently available in only two hospitals in Chittagong. However, many low-income individuals lack access to such services. Southern Medical College & Hospital is always open to providing this care to those who are otherwise deprived. Additionally, we are planning to enhance our Orthopedic Department, as Chattogram still lags behind in this area. Although our journey has not been free of challenges, we have overcome many obstacles and remain steadfast in our mission.

We continue to strive toward progress, but we need the support of people from all walks of life, especially parents and students, to help make this noble endeavor a success. We believe that, through mutual cooperation, we can create a better future for all.
