Sheikh Hasina Medical College, Tangail, is a government medical school in Bangladesh, established in 2014. Located in the Kodalia area of Tangail city, the college was a promise made by Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister and the current leader of the Bangladesh Awami League, during the 2008 election campaign. She pledged to establish a government-funded medical school in Tangail, which was fulfilled when her party secured a second consecutive term in 2014. In August 2014, the government decided to open Sheikh Hasina Medical College along with five other new medical colleges (Jamalpur Medical College, Manikganj Medical College, Shaheed M. Monsur Ali Medical College, Patuakhali Medical College, and Rangamati Medical College). SHMCT became the 24th public medical college in Bangladesh.
