About Us
Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College was established in 2011, and it is named after Syed Nazrul Islam, the first acting President of Bangladesh.
In the 2010–2011 period, the Bangladesh government approved a plan to set up four new medical colleges in Jessore, Satkhira, Kishoreganj, and Kushtia to improve healthcare services across the country. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) endorsed the project, with an estimated budget of Tk 5.45 billion for the establishment of Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College.
The project included the construction of a six-story hospital building, a five-story academic building, a nurses’ training center, hostels for students and internee doctors, dormitories for doctors and staff nurses, a mosque, an auditorium, residential buildings for the principal and directors, a gymnasium, as well as the procurement of equipment, a micro-bus, two ambulances, and furniture.
