CA 19-9 is a blood test that measures the level of a specific tumor marker, which is a substance produced by certain cells in the body, often associated with pancreatic cancer and other gastrointestinal disorders. This test is used to help diagnose, monitor treatment response, and check for recurrence of cancer, although it is not exclusively used for cancer diagnosis, as elevated levels can occur in other conditions as well.
