Balloon Dilatation of the Oesophagus (A) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat narrowing (strictures) of the esophagus, which can cause difficulty swallowing. During the procedure, a thin, flexible tube with a balloon at its tip is inserted through the mouth and into the esophagus, where the balloon is inflated to gently widen the narrowed area, allowing for improved passage of food and liquids.
