The Tuberculin Test, also known as the Mantoux test, involves the intradermal injection of 0.1 ml of a purified protein derivative (PPD) containing 10 tuberculin units (TU) into the skin of your forearm. This test helps determine if you have been exposed to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB) by assessing your immune response to the injected substance after 48 to 72 hours.
