Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital

Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital (IIEI&H) at Farmgate, Dhaka, is Bangladesh's largest and oldest multispecialty eye hospital. Founded in 1960 by philanthropist Mirza Ahmad Ispahani as a charitable dispensary, it has always operated as a non-profit organization dedicated to quality eye care for every section of society, with special focus on the underprivileged. The hospital provides tertiary ophthalmic care and rehabilitation to hundreds of patients each day, while its sister institution — the M. A. Ispahani Institute of Ophthalmology, established in 1992 — trains ophthalmologists, paramedics and nurses. IIEI&H pioneered tertiary ophthalmic super-specialties in Bangladesh and set up the country's first amniotic membrane processing laboratory in 2001. General facilities are offered at very low cost alongside more comfortable private facilities, while the quality of treatment remains the same for every patient. Specialized clinics cover cataract, cornea, glaucoma, retina, oculoplasty, ocular oncology, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, low vision and vision therapy.
