Dhaka Medical College & Hospital

Dhaka Medical College is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical institutions in Bangladesh, located in the heart of the capital, Dhaka. It is situated in the Bakshibazar area, close to both the University of Dhaka and the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

The idea of establishing a medical college in Dhaka was first proposed to the British government in 1939, but the plan was delayed due to World War II. However, after the war, a committee was formed in 1945, and based on its recommendations, Dhaka Medical College officially opened its doors on July 10, 1946. This marked the beginning of a new era in medical education in Bangladesh, with Dhaka Medical College playing a key role in training doctors and healthcare professionals for the country.
