Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is the premier postgraduate medical institution in Bangladesh. It has a rich heritage as the successor of the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Research (IPGMR), which was established in December 1965. In 1998, the government upgraded IPGMR into a medical university to expand the facilities for higher medical education and research in the country. BSMMU is widely recognised for its excellence in medical education, training, research, and healthcare services, making it a leader in the field.
