National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases & Hospital
The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) is a leading institute in Bangladesh for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Established in 1978, its primary goal was to introduce modern cardiovascular care services in the country and to train skilled professionals to meet the growing healthcare needs.
In addition to providing the best possible care for heart patients, the NICVD also started offering Post Graduate medical courses in July 1982. Over the years, 166 doctors have completed their MD in Cardiology, 99 doctors have earned their MS in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, and 178 doctors have obtained their D. Card (Diploma in Cardiology) from the institute. Many of these professionals are now working in specialized cardiac care roles in both government and private hospitals across Bangladesh and internationally.
NICVD also conducts training programs for nurses, including those working in CCU, ICU, Cath Lab, and OT, as well as for other support staff. The institute also offers training for non-government doctors to enhance the overall healthcare service in the community.
