Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital

About Us

The parent organization began its journey in 1979 as Chattogram Shishu Hospital, starting from a humble beginning. The hospital was established by a group of social workers in an unfinished, dilapidated government building in Agrabad, with permission from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Initially, it offered small outpatient services with one part-time honorary medical officer from Chittagong Medical College and three honorary pediatric consultants. Over time, the two-story building was fully allocated to the organization, with each floor covering 91,000 sqft.

In 1988, the hospital was completed, and in 1994, maternity services were added, bringing the total bed capacity to 150. The hospital was then renamed “Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital.”

Today, it has grown into a 650-bed hospital offering a wide range of specialized services, including Pediatrics Medicine, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Neurology, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Medicine, and its sub-specialties. The outpatient services include consultations, pharmacy, family planning, mother care, Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI), and Physical Medicine, as well as all types of pediatric care. Other services offered are General Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Urology, Medical Oncology, Radiology, Hematology, Pediatric Hematology, Endocrinology, and a highly specialized Child Development Clinic for retarded and handicapped children and adults.

The average daily attendance in the OPD is around 1500-1600 patients, and emergency medical services are available 24/7 for urgent and semi-urgent cases.

The hospital also has a full-fledged Radiology Department with all types of X-Ray facilities, including 2D and 3D ultrasonography with Color Doppler. The Clinical Pathology Department is well-equipped, covering Hematology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. A modest Blood Transfusion Center provides services round-the-clock.

No doctors available at this hospital.
