Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Govt. Hospital

About Us

Kuwait Bangladesh Hospital is a government hospital located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Initially funded by the Kuwaiti Joint Relief Committee, it was established with the aim of providing essential healthcare services. The hospital is notably recognized as the first facility to offer medical services to coronavirus patients in accordance with the guidelines set by the Government of Bangladesh.

The hospital was officially inaugurated on 10 June 2001 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the name Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital. However, in 2002, the Kuwaiti Joint Relief Committee ceased its funding, citing financial difficulties. Following this, a lease agreement was signed on 16 December 2002 between the Ministry of Health and the American Hospital Consortium, which assumed responsibility for the hospital’s management. As part of the agreement, the hospital was renamed American Super Specialised Hospital, and the consortium was tasked with upgrading it to international standards by 30 June 2008.

Unfortunately, the consortium failed to meet this deadline. In 2009, the Bangladesh government filed a lawsuit against the American Hospital Consortium for illegally taking over the hospital’s rights, leaving the matter of the agreement’s cancellation unresolved. After years of legal battles, a court ruling in 2015 favored the government, and the Ministry of Health regained control of the hospital.

No doctors available at this hospital.
